Hanoi's Chinatown used to be in the area of the old quarter, around Ta Hien St. But most (90%) of the ethnic Chinese who lived in Hanoi had either gone back to China or became boat people during the Sino-Vietnamese War of 1979. My eating schedule for my next trip to Hanoi is already getting jam packed--I can't wait. Wandering - That totally makes sense. It hadn't occurred to me to wonder why there is no Chinatown in Hanoi. I haven't done nearly enough eating in Cho Lon since we've been living in Saigon. It's a little out of the way for me, but it'll be worth the excursion.
