Christine - the last picture is of Egyptian havashi - grilled pita bread topped with sautéed spiced minced lamb. Looks like pizza, but tastes nothing like it due to the absence of tomato sauce and cheese.

I was wondering if you knew what the last picture was called. I remember having a taste of it when I was younger... it tasted kind of like pizza, right?

NN - I must admit, getting paid to eat is pretty darn awesome. And don't underestimate your writing talents. Skim my archives for some pretty terrible writing ;-)

Jaye Vee - New restaurants seem to be popping up all over the city nearly every week. This place is changing SO FAST! It's really quite exciting.

Kate - Thanks! I appreciate that you appreciate it. I hope that came out right.

Did I say that I envied your job? Getting someone to pay you to eat! I wish I could do that too. But I'm not as eloquent as you are (sigh), so I have to pay for my food in this life.

I cannot believe there is such international culinary diversity in Saigon these days. I was last in VN in 2000 and the only non-Vietnamese thing they had there was Baskin Robbins. How things change so quickly there. Love your blog.
