Thank you so much for this review. I've contemplated dining at Steven's and I think this review definitely helped me make up my mind.

William - The Yelpers are crazy about salsa dancing at Steven's. We've learned our lesson about eating in Commerce. These days, we meet half-way in Monterey Park for Chinese eats.

The packed parking lots aren't because of the food. The only thing that is good at Steven's Steak House is the salsa dancing. For some reasons, it's a pretty happening spot for salsa dancing, especially on Sunday nights. And believe it or not, on Sundays they offer a free buffet in the late afternoon/early evening timeframe and the food is typically better than the stuff you have to pay for. You guys should have continued driving further north another two minutes and eat at King Tacos instead. The food there is cheaper and tastier, and you get armed security 24/7. Welcome to East L.A. :-)

Kirk - It's baffling that Steven's is still in operation. Did you check out the TWO parking lots outside the restaurant? That means the place gets packed on some nights :-(

He-he-he I love it.....had to eat here once with my clients, and it was heinous....it's the home of the dead tastebuds. I'd eat at Northwoods Inn (home of the dirty snow) before I'd set foot back here.

Taylor - I have been approached by the company that does casting for Kitchen Nightmares and I gave 'em Steven's address ;-)

Fiona - Things to do in Commerce: Shop at the Citadel. Things never to do in Commerce: Eat.

Foodhoe - Even if food sucks, I can't throw it away out of guilt. The leftover scallops still tasted decent the next day. It took The Astronomer a couple of days to polish off the steak and prime rib. Those portions were insane.

Jane - Here's the crazy part---Steven's attracted a good number of patrons! Mostly men away on business, I think. Also, their reviews on Yelp are very good. This place is a mystery...

I thought the same thing that Taylor did -- that this was exactly the sort of meals I see on Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsay. It was all awful and needs a serious renovation -- was the place pretty dead, patron-wise?
