{swoon} Spiked Lemon at Spago Las Vegas

Spago Las Vegas

Did I travel to Las Vegas to eat at a Los Angeles institution? Kinda. And I’d do it again in a heartbeat, because as revered as the Spago in Beverly Hills is, the one in Las Vegas is plain better. Perched on a breezy balcony overlooking the Bellagio’s famous dancing fountains, a meal here is festive, fun, and fresh in a way that the original can’t beat. There are certainly perks to being the new kid on the block.

Following a lunch of Chef Wolfgang Puck’s greatest hits including the smoked salmon pizza, Chinois chicken salad, and veal wiener schnitzel, The Astronomer, June, and I seriously swooned over the spiked lemon dessert from pastry chef Romain Cornu.

The dramatic gold-flecked presentation gave way to tremendously balanced layers of yuzu cream, chiffon cake, and citrus mousse. Enrobed in the warm desert air while relishing every bite, there was nowhere else we’d rather be.
